You will start your Peruvian journey by arriving to the colonial city of Arequipa, an exceptional example of the colonial settlement of Spanish conquistadors, sheltering as well the well-known Inca mummy of ''Juanita''. The historical center of Arequipa is inscribed on the UNESCO heritage list. Your private guide will be glad to take you through the pretty cityscapes and you will have the opportunity to travel back into the time by visiting the spectacular religious citadel of Santa Catalina, the largest convent in the world which has been remained intact from the 16th century. The well preserved mummy of ''Juanita'', dating back to the XV century, will be certainly one of the most interesting discoveries during your stay in Arequipa. Who was Juanita and why she was sacrificed? Learn about it during your visit of the Museo Santuarios Andinos. Later, you can explore the convent of Santa Catalina, a real city in the city built in 1579. Your private guide will be glad to make you discover the colonial past of Arequipa, through its historical monuments such as the most unusual and well known colonial Cathedral of Arequipa. In the evening, you will take the luxury Andean Explorer train to reach Puno, the cradle of the Inca civilization and the folkloric capital of Peru. The amazing sunrise at Lake Titicaca will be one of the greatest moments of your trip. Today you will have the opportunity to explore the most picturesque islands of the highest navigable lake in the world (3812 m): Uros and Taquile, to meet their inhabitants and to learn about the local lifestyle. Later, after your private lunch at Collata Beach in Taquile, you will continue your journey by train to Cusco, the one-time capital of the Incas, enjoying the marvelous landscapes on the way. In the evening, you will enjoy the pre-dinner cocktails and later you will take the diner in the train’s two beautiful dining carriages: Llama and Muña. Today you will reach Cusco, the once famed capital of the Inca Empire and the uncontested archeological capital of the Americas. The road by train from Arequipa to Cusco is not only a very comfortable way to travel, it's also a nice opportunity to admire the high-altitude landscapes that stretches from Arequipa to Cusco. Before to arrive to Cusco, you will make another stop to make the Raqchi tour exploring the stunning archeological park with Inca ruins. Thus, you will conclude your magic experience on board of the elegant Andean Explorer train.
